Q. After I’ve joined. How long before I start receiving benefits:
A. Within 7 – 10 business days you can use your personalized membership ID number to log on to NMA’s “Members Only” pages on the web site and access your benefits – such as Physician Locator Service, discounts on hardware & software and seminars, as well as your section e-mail list server. Allow four weeks for the arrival of your first issue of the Journal of the National Medical Association.

Q. How do I update my member record?
A. Send all changes to NMA’s Membership Services Division via phone, fax or e-mail.

Q. May I pay my membership dues online?
A. Yes. Log on to www.NMAnet.org and Click on “Join Today.” You may also call Membership Services and someone will take your information over the phone, or fax your membership application. (See the NMA Directory for contact information.)

Q. If I join the NMA online, when does my membership become effective?
A. The online applications of prospective members are retrieved from NMA’s web site daily. Applications are processed within 5 business days. However, you may not be able to access “Members Only” online services for 7 – 10 business days.

Q. How long is the NMA membership season?
A. Membership in the National Medical Association is on a calendar year basis, from January 1 through December 31.

Q. When I join the NMA, am I automatically enrolled in my state or local society of NMA (or vice versa)?
A. No. NMA and the state and local societies enrollments are separate.

Q. Are there advantages to early NMA membership renewal?
A. NMA offers a $50 discount on “Regular” NMA Membership dues received on or before February 1. You can take advantage of current year income tax deductions by paying your dues for the upcoming year.

Q. Several physicians in my organization belong to NMA. Can we pay our dues all at one time?
A. Yes. Include a summary page with names of members and amounts and attach individual membership applications.
